Elumicate was founded in 2015 and began more serious development in 2019 with a goal to deliver an AI integrated Edge computing device to the DOOH (Digital Out Of Home advertising) sector. Over the next few years, this goal was met with the creation of an advanced and fully functional device capable of capturing multiple relevant metrics (vehicle speed, type, color, number of occupants, gaze direction, etc.) and able to integrate within existing systems to offer functionalities such as being able to change the billboard display depending on which vehicle drives in front of it (Show Tesla advert to BMW driver for example).
While the industry saw an immediate value and need for accurate and real time vehicle data (they currently pay quite a bit for outdated estimates extrapolated from small sample sizes), the rest of the capabilities were a harder sell to an already profitable industry that is hesitant to significant change (especially with covid hitting the industry hard). A step back was taken to have a look at the big picture before proceeding.
Several industries were contacted (cities, tourism, government, retail) in order to gauge interest in what had been built. Results showed that multiple industries see great value and are also currently paying for similar data and that some had already invested in a capture infrastructure only to be left with difficulties with integration (a lack of resources or budget to build the solutions they needed around the accumulated data).
What became clear is that by capturing, digitizing, and then offering access to relevant data to specific markets with a focus on resolving existing problems (by integrating directly within their internal programs, offering API access, developing 3rd party apps, etc.) we could solve many problems and allow for the development of innovative solutions. We received many confirmations that being able to access the data or having access to specific solutions without having to worry about which devices to use, network connectivity, resources, etc. was exactly what they were looking for.
By utilizing blockchain technology and a decentralized infrastructure, we are now building the backbone that will allow participants to own the network and be rewarded in utility tokens that will be used to then gain access the accumulated data. Access to the data will also allow 3rd parties to develop and deliver their own solutions to existing industry challenges. Truly a win win situation for all parties involved.
